I'm glad I chose the one I did After looking around at all the different guides I'm glad I chose the one I did! Guntersville is Soo large that it can be intimidating, but with Jim he makes it easy. He asked us ahead of time what we were wanting to accomplish and I'm pretty sure he had that covered in the first hour. Jim is not only a good guide, but he is a great guy. We had a tournament the next day and he called to check on us to see how we were doing. That phone call and his " little tip " helped keep one of our fish alive through the night that would have cost us points! Overall I would say if your looking for a guide for practice, learning, or just the best day of bass fishing you ever had.. Look no further. Call Jim! I bought a guided trip with Captain Jim Leary for my husband's birthday! He loved it and wants to go back in the spring!

Captain Mike knows his stuff. He can put you on big fish, and was very accommodating to us. If you want a good trip, ask for Mike.

Captain Jim is a great guide. Out of all the guides I've been with he was the most helpful, nicest and he's funny. We caught bass, I pet his dog Bell, we laughed and had a lot of fun. ****Update**** February 16th of 2018 my fishing partner Johnny and I booked another appointment with Caption Jim. All I can say is a picture is worth a thousand words. Best trip anyone can ever have, again many great memories made. He always is very helpful on all your fishing needs. We caught or 70 bass, 2 were 7 pounders, several 4 and 5 pounders. We were fishing lipless crank baits and man were they crushing them. He will supply you with everything you need to catch'm, all you need is time to enjoy, relax, and make great memories.
The weather was crazy that day, 65 degrees that morning with lite rain and 45 degrees after lunch. You can tell by looking how we were dressed. But the fishing was HOT🎣🎣.

Jim and Guntersville Bass Guides are the best!. My son and I went out and had a blast. My son Carter, 16, has much more experience and was on the fish right away. Capt Jim took some time with me and was very patient but also very intent on making sure I was on.

First spot landed a 7 pound fish I"m going to start out by thanking my girlfriend (Angela) for booking this trip for me. Captain Jim was very accommodating with her and took his time to explain the different packages he has to offer. She had no clue as to what to choose for me, but Captain Jim took his time with her and came up with a great option. I had originally planned to bring my son with me, but at the last minutes he could not go, so my brother was the lucky go to person. Captain Jim took care of making the hotel reservation and also provided us with a great BBQ lunch. Our day of fishing started bright and early 6:15 am. Jim was already waiting for us with the boat already in the water. We launched off and went to the first spot. We were provided with all the equipment needed to go fishing (rods, reels) on a new Triton boat. Everything was top notch! First spot landed a 7 pound fish... WOW! I don't see those in the lake I fish. We quickly moved on fishing several different spots throughout the day. Fishing was a challenge that day due to the high winds, But that didn't phase Captain Jim. He is a true professional. He just pushed on locating the fish. I highly recommend booking a fishing trip of a lifetime with Captain Jim and Guntersville Bass Guides. I promise that you will not be disappointed. 03/2018. Updated. Third year coming back twice per year. Jim is one of the hardest working guides I know. He knows when I come to the BIG G, I'm looking for quality, not quantity!! He finds big fish, and he finds them quickly!!
I've told Jim on a number of occasions that if he needs a reference, have anyone contact me. I'm telling everyone, you won't be disappointed, from 1st time anglers, to fast action fishing, to hunt for big bass, Jim's got it all!!! Thank you Jim!! We will do it again tomorrow!!

To all reading this!! All I can say is after today I have a new personal best!! Jim battled the wind, the rain, and even a tornado two nights ago, and today almost 30 lbs. in five fish anchored by an 11 lb. big old bass!! Guntersville Bass Guides, you rock!! Captain Jim is top notch, if you book with him, just listen to him and fish!! Jim will give you the trip of a lifetime, just listen to him. He is an amazing guide, and a great person!! I just called Capt. Jim I am from Mississippi and my Grandparents live in Guntersville . I come visit now and then and to feed a fishing craving I looked up guides online . I just called Capt Jim one day and he was very helpful . I scheduled and booked me a slot and he worked super hard to accommodate my small window of opportunity . Thanks so much ! Did a 4 hour trip which they stretched way out to more like 5 and we had a good catch ! I will definately go with him again . Capt Cameron and Capt Jim you wont be dissapointed !

My friend also caught his personal best. I had a great friend of mine visiting me from Colorado for the Holidays and the two of us were able to fish with Jim New Year's Eve. Jim was completely upfront and honest with us, explaining that the bite had changed with the weather and that we'd be working to figure things out. We set out on our adventure and Jim worked hard and methodically to figure out where the fish were staged at. Though the morning started slow, we were able to discern a great pattern and catch more than 12 bass under hard conditions to include a 5 bass sack weighing more than 19 lbs. My friend also caught his personal best. Not only was it great to catch fish on a tough day, but it was a lot of fun fishing with Jim; he has a great, fun personality and he still has a strong, driving passion to fish---he's not jaded out like I've experienced with fishing guides in the past. It was a wonderful experience all around and I'd highly recommend him to any angler.

Writing this review right after getting home from the guided trip. Tough bite is the two words that describe the first few hours of the trip. 4lber first cast, a few more over the next 40 ish minutes, then the bite went away. Capt. Jim did everything he could to make sure we were back on the fish, and it worked. Caught a total of about 23 fish with a 5 fish bag of 22 lbs and some change. Kicker fish was 6.6. Jim is very knowledgeable and willing to help you whenever. He knows his stuff and is willing to share everything you need to know (unless you just browse his page looking for spots). If I had to come up with something negative it would’ve been out of his control any way and that would have been the wind. I say that, but even with the wind the fish were biting. Jim has a great attitude, good advice, good spots, good rods reels etc., good boat, and a good dog. Belle (the dog) did make a stage dive towards the end but it all turned out well. I had a fantastic time and will do my best to make it back with Jim someday hopefully soon!

UPDATE: 6/4/2018
Well, had another amazing trip out in the water with Jim and Belle. The bite started out good all you had to do was [CENSORED] the [CENSORED] and man the fish would slam it! That first bit we caught a 6.02 and a 4.somethin. Our bag went for probably 18.5 (correct me if I’m wrong). The bite did slow down after a while and we began having to throw [CENSORED] to get the fish to bite. Even when we went for a good while without fish Capt. Jim held stead fast and always did his best to put them in the boat. This having been my second trip out with him I feel I have gotten to know him rather well both as a guide and as a person. If you are on the fence, just jump right into it. He is always willing to take a call (Mr. Popular) and help you out. Great Duckett rods and reels and all other tackle to boot. This is one for the memory book as I had my grandmother along with me. She was (and bless her heart still is) clueless about fishing, but Capt. Jim he did everything he could to help her out and for that, we are both truly thankful. Thank you Capt. Jim and 1st mate Belle for making this trip another great one. Me and my son had 2 GREAT days of fishing with Jim and Shane. We caught a lot of big fish. My son was able to land his biggest fish ever an 8 lb 4 ounce giant! Best day of fishing I’ve had on lake Guntersville hands down. Jim with Guntersville Bass Guides put us on some great spots for large mouth. This trip was originally planned for February but the weather had been bad the day before and the lake just wasn’t cooperating. Jim wanted his customers to have a great experience and rescheduled the trip for June 2nd. The wait was well worth it. I caught my personal best bass of 7.5lb My first trip to Guntersville in the fall of 2013 would prove to be the trip that started an obsession with this lake. Jim Leary took us out and we had the experience of a lifetime and I have the pictures to prove it! Without his knowledge of the area we would've been a lost ball in high weeds. However, we caught more quality fish from 3-6lbs than I can even count. It was such an experience that we came back the very next weekend and on the 2nd cast I caught my personal best bass of 7.5lb. Spring break and we booked a 6 hour trip with captain Jim. It was a once in a lifetime day. My 16 and 12 year old sons put together a 30 lb bag. With a 9, 8, 5, 4 & 4 lb fish. At least 15 fish caught in 6 hours. Professional and knowledgeable.

Went out with Captain Jeff for a 6 hr trip on Gville yesterday. Hands down the best day of fishing in our life. Jeff was awesome, very helpful, and very personable. We caught a lot of fish and a lot of big fish in a lot of different ways. Awesome first day of our honeymoon. First time fishing Guntersville. Went on a two day trip with Capt Jim and had a great fishing experience. I would definitely recommend and I plan on going again soon.

Had a half day trip with Captain Phillip. On a tough day with cold and windy conditions our boat was able to bring 5 to lip, however many more opportunities were had. A 6 pounder to the boat sealed the deal for my guntersville experience.

Being a fly fishing guide from CO I could see that Capt Phillip was professional, on time, and has a beautiful ranger boat and lowrance electronic setup. This stood out to me, and was a great experience.

I came all the way from California to fish with GBG-they did not disappoint. Capt. Shane is very knowledgeable about bass fishing and knows the lake and the spots to find the fish. An Unforgettable Day ! My wife booked an evening trip for me for my birthday on Lake Guntersville will Jim Leary. I had never been to G-Ville and did not know what to expect. After meeting Jim at the ramp and seeing some pictures from his morning trip, I was pumped. We took off and made it to our first and only spot and it was on. 25 + fish . We kept 15 of our biggest to weigh. The small 5 was around 17lbs. Our middle 5 was 25lbs and our biggest 5 was 35lbs. Wow ! Truly a trip of a lifetime. It was so good that i changed my plans and went back out the next morning, although the bite slowed down from a cold front, we still had our best 5 go 23lbs. G-Ville is definitely on right now.
As for Jim, you won't meet a nicer guy. He puts in work day after day to make sure his clients are satisfied. He's the type of guy that will make you feel right at home while away from home. I highly recommend Jim if your thinking about fishing G-Ville.

I want to start by saying I am a weekend angler. When I am not fishing tournaments, I am usually practicing for them. I work a full time job so it is very important to maximize my time on the water. My fishing partner and I reached out to Jim and didn't know what to expect since this was our first guide trip. It was one of the best days we have ever had on the water. We fished out of a brand new Legend boat, loaded out with power poles, new electronics, and top of the line rod and reels. It was like we had another friend in the boat, a friend that knew where the big bass lived. He doesn't just point and tell you where to throw, he teaches what you throwing at and why they are there. I recommend Jim and his guides to anyone and we will be going again soon. I feel like we didn't just meet a dependable guide but a new friend.

Captain Jim put us on the bass within a half hour of getting out on the lake. The bass stopped biting early on that hot June day, but not before I caught the biggest largemouth I have caught!

Fished 2 days with Captain Jim and his his awesome assistant Lily. I had a great time!!! He is an enjoyable dude to be around and just have a conversation let alone he knows how to get you on fish! By far my best day ever on Guntersville. We boated well over 20 in an hour or so at one point. I was fortunate enough to get one over 6 and got to check a couple things off my bucket list. Captain Mike was fantastic. He was there with the boat ready at 5am. We got right to catching fish. 4 hours went by real quick with non stop action. Whenever I fish Guntersville I’m contacting Mike from now on.

Captain Jim is a professional! I contacted him to arrange for a group of 5 to fish at the Big G! I selected the “Roughing It” trip and he took care of the rest! He arranged for us to stay in cabins across the street from the boat launching area. The cabins were clean and comfortable. We arrived at the cabin late the night before we were to fish not knowing what to expect the next morning.
Captain Jim was there the next morning as scheduled at 5:15am with two other guides and their fully equipped bass boats and fishing gear and away we went. The next eight hours were filled with an amazing life experience that none of us will forget.
My fear of bringing 4 guests from out of town and not catching any fish was soon nullified. Within 15 minutes of launching we (Cpt Jim and I) had caught 3 fish and we had reports that the other boats were also having luck! I was introduced to Belle, Capt. Jim’s fishing partner who was bringing us all luck. She would give each fish we caught “sugar” (a little lick) before throwing them back, and then she’d curl up in the bottom of the boat to prevent getting a treble hook embedded in her doggie hide.
Capt. Jim knows the lake well, not only for fish, but also for the other wild life that inhabit the area. As we were cruising to the next hot fishing hole, an American bald eagle flew about 30 feet above our heads, undoubtedly looking for morning breakfast. What a beautiful site!
We cruised to five or six different holes trying to catch the big ones we could see on the fish finder. Capt Jim checked all his resources to find the fish. He checked how much water was being released through the dam up river. Knowing this, would most certainly affect the fishing. Capt Jim adjusted how we fished...depths, types of bait, and retrieval methods, to entice the fish to bite.
We all met at the end of our eight hours and shared our fishing experiences. In all we had caught between 80 to 100 fish. If you’re looking for a great fishing experience, give Capt. Jim a call! He’s one of the best!

Mike was great! Super friendly, definitely knew how to fish the lake!

Writing this review right after getting home from the guided trip. Tough bite is the two words that describe the first few hours of the trip. 4lber first cast, a few more over the next 40 ish minutes, then the bite went away. Capt. Jim did everything he could to make sure we were back on the fish, and it worked. Caught a total of about 23 fish with a 5 fish bag of 22 lbs and some change. Kicker fish was 6.6. Jim is very knowledgeable and willing to help you whenever. He knows his stuff and is willing to share everything you need to know (unless you just browse his page looking for spots). If I had to come up with something negative it would’ve been out of his control any way and that would have been the wind. I say that, but even with the wind the fish were biting. Jim has a great attitude, good advice, good spots, good rods reels etc., good boat, and a good dog. Belle (the dog) did make a stage dive towards the end but it all turned out well. I had a fantastic time and will do my best to make it back with Jim someday hopefully soon!

Had the best day I've ever had on Guntersville. Fished that lake many times before , but Jim showed me what I had been missing

Round 2 - Our first trip with Captain Jim was supposed to be 3 generations (my father, myself and my son) on the water catching fish. Unfortunately, as we were getting ready to launch we got a call that my Grandmother had passed so my father had to forego the trip to attend to the details. My son Jacob and I decided to carry on with the understanding we would make the trip again with all three generations. We had a blast and Captain Jim made a new friend in Jacob (my 7yr old). Fast forward 6 weeks and we had the chance to give it another go. Once again, we had a blast. We caught fish, made memories and Captain Jim taught my son multiplications!

Long overdue review but we SMOKED em out on the lake with Captain Mike. 23 in the boat before 11:30 is a freaking WIN! Mike is knowledgeable and friendly as heck.. he’ll greet you with a “Welcome to Alabama” handshake. Jam up guy and jam up fisherman for sure! Ask him to teach you to use the bait caster in under 10 minutes and beat my time of under 5! 😂 Such a fun trip and already scheduled our next outing with him before we left the boat!

I booked a trip for a "Mother's day" gift to myself and went out with Captain Mike for a 4 hr trip. I hooked the 1st bass of the day which was a great feeling but ended with my first 8 lb bass! Personal best so far! Captain Mike is the greatest and such a pleasure to fish with. He knew exactly where the big fish were, prompt in communication and meet up arrangements. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations.....planning a return trip with Captain Mike again next year and hoping for an even larger bass!

I had a great morning on the water with Capt. Jim! He was professional, courteous, and worked hard to find us fish. I plan to use Guntersville Bass Guides again and would recommend them to anyone looking to do some fishing on Lake Guntersville!

And he put me on my personal best on artificial I spent a few days fishing with Captain Jim the week of July 27th through August 2nd and man was it a blast! I came down to the Big G for my vacation not really expecting anything like what happened fishing with Jim! It was enough to get me to come back down and fish with him again the next weekend though! During these dog days of summer with real feel temps of 105+ and water temps of around 90 and more you don't really expect to go on the water and have the greatest of days no matter where you are fishing! However, with the knowledge Jim has on the lake and know how of when and where the big ones are going to be, we managed to sack around 20-26 pounds in our best five each day we fished together! And he put me on my personal best on artificial, so you can't beat that! This man knows his stuff and can put you on em'! Not only is Jim an awesome guide and a pretty cool guy to fish with, he is a class act! Not being from around the area and not having any clue what goes on in the area; Jim showed me a couple cool tackle stores, some awesome places around town to eat, and a few local hangouts! He definitely made me feel more at home which isn't something you get out of your every day guide service! I will definitely be making another trip back to fish with him soon when the big girls really are chewing! If you want to go out and have a good time on the water while having a good shot at your personal best sack of fish or personal best fish of a lifetime, I would suggest giving Captain Jim a call!

Another great trip with Jim Leary and Guntersville Bass Guides!! This time I brought a buddy from Michigan, Hunter Buter made his first trip to Guntersville Lake. Although the size fish that Jim and I are used to wasn't there, the numbers were. The fish were on the move, but as usual Jim found them. We all were catching fish.
I've said this before and I will continue to say it, Jim Leary and Guntersville Bass Guides are top notch!! Jim will always work to find fish in any weather pattern! I will be back again and again.

Wow.....!

We wanted something to do as a team and this was the chosen activity although, I had never fished before.

I was enthusiastic but, to be honest did not know what to expect and wasn't really expecting any success or if I am really being honest, to enjoy it all that much (fishing had never really appealed to me).

How wrong I was! We arrived on Monday night at the cabin that had been organized by Jim and it was great. Clean, comfortable and with everything you would possibly need. It was also across the road from the boat jetty where we would be collected the following morning, this really made a difference when we were hitting the water at 05:30.

There were 5 of us which, meant we had three boats and our particular captain was Jeff.

We quickly hit the water and found our first fishing spot (we had many throughout the day) where Jeff, was a great instructor and very patient with a complete newbie and really took time to teach me everything from casting, to the technique's for attracting and catching fish to finally reeling them in.

As I said I, was pessimistic about my potential success and with my initial lack of casting abilities, we were all amazed (especially me) that I didn't hook someone and that at least one of us, didn't get a new piercing to go home with. Mix this, with my uncanny ability to knot the line or, cast in the wrong direction and less that a few meters from the boat, it looked like it was going to be a long day.

Jeff however did not give up on me and was supportive and encouraging throughout, always having a rod available ready to go with bait irrespective ofd how many times I fouled the line.

So lets move on a few hours and I am casting (fairly competently and still injury free for all) and catching fish that I would never believe and in fact, not only did I get the biggest fish of the day (although my colleagues may argue) I also believe I caught the most fish....

The whole experience was incredibly well organized and I cannot fault anything or recommend highly enough.

Jim and his team are incredibly well organized, knowledgeable and most importantly great fun and focus on making the day a great fishing experience. If I get the opportunity I will definitely be back.

So whether you are an experienced fisherman like most of my colleagues or, a complete novice like myself I could not recommend Guntersville Bass Guides highly enough.

Well, let me start with my first meeting with Capt Jim. I was paired up with him in a BFL bass tour as a co angular. As most competitive, co angular bass fisherman know. Your success really is in the hands of the pro angular and how he helps or prevents you from catching fish. Capt Jim was a true professional! He gave me lures to try and gave me a fair shot at the same fish he was trying to catch. The experience was so good that I had to fish with him again on his home turf. My experience was even better this time. He put me on the fish, gave me advise, and made it absolutely perfect. Except for the 10lb plus bass that came unbuttoned which was more disheartening for him it seemed. I had so much fun that even that couldn't ruin my trip. I highly recommend that you book a trip asap! Once more people find out how good he really is, good luck finding a day with his full schedule. Capt Jim, will you be able to fish at night? Lol

Today was my first time ever doing a guided fish and it was AMAZING. Jeff was our guide and he could not have done a better job. He put us on the fish, made sure my line/worms etc. was ready at all times, had a back up pole for me and even let me borrow his Huk shirt to keep me from getting more fried! I highly recommend him to anyone ready to catch some fish!

Today 2/16/18 my 3rd trip with captain Jim ! we had over 70 bass and two 7 pounders we weighed 32 of them and had over 102 pounds nuff said you had better call this good man and now good friend .

Wanted to take a cousin out and experience the fishing on Lake Guntersville. Called Jim and he was able to get me a trip short notice and was easy to book. I expected to catch a few fish, but when you get about 30 fish in 4 hours, that is a good day. Capt Jim and his guides know Lake Guntersville and get you to the fish anytime of the day. I"m going to start out by thanking my girlfriend (Angela) for booking this trip for me. Captain Jim was very accommodating with her and took his time to explain the different packages he has to offer. She had no clue as to what to choose for me, but Captain Jim took his time with her and came up with a great option. I had originally planned to bring my son with me, but at the last minutes he could not go, so my brother was the lucky go to person. Captain Jim took care of making the hotel reservation and also provided us with a great BBQ lunch.
Our day of fishing started bright and early 6:15 am. Jim was already waiting for us with the boat already in the water. We launched off and went to the first spot. We were provided with all the equipment needed to go fishing (rods, reels) on a new Triton boat. Everything was top notch! First spot landed a 7 pound fish... WOW! I don't see those in the lake I fish. We quickly moved on fishing several different spots throughout the day. Fishing was a challenge that day due to the high winds, But that didn't phase Captain Jim. He is a true professional. He just pushed on locating the fish.
I highly recommend booking a fishing trip of a lifetime with Captain Jim and Guntersville Bass Guides. I promise that you will not be disappointed. This was a trip I will never forget and I hope that we will be able to go back this October or November and do some frog fishing with him.

Wow! What an unforgettable day on the lake with Captain Jim, my 12 year old son, and Belle. I blindly started a search for a bass guide for a mother/son fishing trip and I struck gold. By some miracle, I selected Guntersville Bass Guides and gave Captain Jim a call. He answered right then and had us booked in a flash. He answered all of my lodging questions and even helped me out with a list of recommended restaurants. What seemed like a huge ordeal suddenly got really simple with the help of Capt. Jim!
We had the most excellent time, ever. My son and I have talked about it nonstop since we left Guntersville yesterday. He wants to go back at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break. And it gets a lot worse for my pocketbook - he wants the entire Spring Break Week.
Captain Jim was there waiting on us at 5:45 and Belle took off at full speed to meet us strangers at the boat ramp. What a welcome! Although Jim explained that the fish were acting a little funky the past few days, his enthusiasm and expertise never waned. He taught us about the entire ecosystem. We got an education as he patiently explained everything about fishing to us, along with water levels, grasses, how the dam affects the water level and how that affects the fish, water temperatures, best times of year for fishing Guntersville, and on and on. It was fascinating and SO MUCH FUN!!! Capt. Jim is THE most patient person ever. He "mentioned" to my son at least 100 times how to be patient and how to do this or that. And Capt. Jim worked like a dog to take us to the fish, untangle, fix, explain, etc. He did everything possible to make sure we had the time of our lives. No joke.
My son hauled in a couple of nice ones and although I won the grass-catching tournament, I'm not sure who had more fun ... my 12 year old son or me. I expected to have a nice time, but my main goal was a great outing for my son. Well, clearly the great outing part was achieved in the first 30 minutes and it only got better and better. But I was shocked that not only did I have a great outing ... it was one of the best days I can remember.
We will book again with Captain Jim and Belle just as soon as we can get back up there.
Y'all will not find a better time or a better guide. Book with Capt. Jim now - just don't book so many that we can't get back in!!

Guntersville is a great lake! And Capt Mike Thompson is the best! He put us on the fish first thing. We fished the milfoil on the banks of the underwater river channel with fish jumping all around us and we caught a TON good sized largemouth bass. And, Capt Mike is a great host and conversationalist. He was very knowledgeable and informative, and we learned a lot from him. We had a blast!

An Unforgettable Day ! My wife booked an evening trip for me for my birthday on Lake Guntersville will Jim Leary. I had never been to G-Ville and did not know what to expect. After meeting Jim at the ramp and seeing some pictures from his morning trip, I was pumped. We took off and made it to our first and only spot and it was on. 25 + fish . We kept 15 of our biggest to weigh. The small 5 was around 17lbs. Our middle 5 was 25lbs and our biggest 5 was 35lbs. Wow ! Truly a trip of a lifetime. It was so good that i changed my plans and went back out the next morning, although the bite slowed down from a cold front, we still had our best 5 go 23lbs. G-Ville is definitely on right now.
As for Jim, you won't meet a nicer guy. He puts in work day after day to make sure his clients are satisfied. He's the type of guy that will make you feel right at home while away from home. I highly recommend Jim if your thinking about fishing G-Ville.

Mike was our guide and was excellent to go with. We caught quite a few fish and learned a lot in the process. Mike have my 14 year great tips to help him out in the future. Would recommend and we plan to use Guntersville Bass Guides in the future.

I never write google reviews, but after my trip I felt it would be a disservice to Jim if I didn't because I flat-out had one of the best afternoons fishing of my life. If you're looking to catch great fish and learn a ton, stop your search and call Jim to book a trip. It's like going out with a long-time fishing buddy, except he always answers his phone, he's punctual, and has everything prepared for you. I am a decently experienced fisherman but lack time spent on the water, so in addition to wanting to catch some Guntersville giants, I was really hoping to gain some knowledge. Check and check. Jim's knowledge of fish behavior and his adaptability are fantastic. As we went out, he said we were going to be doing something different than he had planned - but landing a 5-pounder on my 3rd cast proved he knew the right calls to make. We sacked up 6 that were photo-worthy weighing close to 30 pounds in 4 hours. Despite peppering him constantly with questions on hows and whys of fish theory, he graciously shared his knowledge and experience. The only thing we missed out on was the opportunity to get video footage of him bear hugging a 7-1/2 pounder over the side of the boat to make sure she didn't get away! Big thanks to you Jim - you'll be seeing me again for sure!

Came from out of town Came from out of town, after getting skunked the day prior. We contacted Captian Jim , he was able to get us into some MAJOR bass during a slow season. Will definitely be using their services next time! Perfect for out of towners.

My son and I booked captain Mike on a last minute request when our other guide cancelled our trip(on another lake). Mike was communicative, prompt and friendly. We had a great time on the water and he put us on fish right away. It was a tough day for fishing and we were able to put ‘em in the boat for a most of the of the day. We had more than 20 on the boat before noon. We would recommend captain Mike we had a blast.
We also loved that Mike fished with us. Not all guides do that. It was great to reference what he was doing while we were fishing along side of him! Go with Mike you won’t regret it.

My wife and I fished with Captain Phil today April 3. We had a great trip and put 52 Largemouth in the boat today and dropped a few . Looking forward to fishing with Captain Phil again tomorrow. Thanks for a great day .Gary and Louanne Root.

Best 5 with over 30 pounds. I have been with Jim 3 times. The best fishing day i have ever had was with captain jim. Best 5 with over 30 pounds. With the big fish being 9.5. He really knows his stuff. When you get in his boat you go to where the fish are their is no looking for them. He is a blast to fish with. I suggest anyone to fish with him. A very entertaining and educationional guide.

I have fished with Jim for several years now and have been absolutely blown away each time. I have always caught fish, even in the worst conditions, and have never felt let down at all. Even when the wind chill is single digits and waves are white capping he provides the best service possible and yes I have fished with him multiple times like this. (It is actually pleasant as there will only be one or two other boats on the lake)I most recently went fishing late February 2018 due to a cancelation he had (last minute). Boy did I pick a good time. I scheduled 2 consecutive days and the fishing was so great we spent 23 hours on the water in these two days. My family sent messages thinking I was injured or lost we were gone so much. 50+ keepers, several large bass over 5 pounds, many 4 pounders, and got to the point that I was calling 3 pounders babies! Once again, and for several years now, I left a deposit for my next trip that isn't even planned yet. I know when I get ready it will be worth it! I can't schedule dates far out so I leave a deposit on hand for when he has a cancellation that fits my time frame.

I fished with Jim on 7/25. We quickly went over the gear and launched the boat at daylight. We made a fast trip across the lake and started fishing deep grass. Within 10 minutes I had caught a 5lb7oz bass and we continued throughout the morning (4 hour trip) to catch 15 total with top five being 22lb5oz. These were by far the largest bass I had ever caught, using reels that were foreign to me, and in the heat of the summer! What more could I have asked for! I can't wait to schedule another trip in March when he said the fish would actually be biting!
