The bass fishing on Lake Guntersville this past week has stayed strong. The fish are shifting around a bit—not quite sure what’s causing it, but they aren’t far from where they were the day before. That said, some areas have just dried up. They’re completely gone, and so far, we haven’t had much luck relocating them. I need a day to myself to get out there and break it down again.
We’re still finding a few bass on beds, but based on what I’m seeing, I’d say 90% of the spawn is done. I could be wrong—it’s not like I have x-ray vision under the water—but from what I’ve seen in the areas we’re working, it feels like we’re wrapping it up. I haven’t found those big post-spawn schools yet, but we’re catching some solid post-spawners that are starting to heal up and feed. Very few pre-spawn fish have shown up, but there have been a couple.
If you’re curious how things are trending, our Water Temps page is updated regularly and seeing a lot of traffic right now. Notable Bass Trip – The Buckeyes Take Guntersville

One trip that really stood out this week was with Tom and Dante, two Buckeyes from Columbus, Ohio. These guys brought the energy—just full-on passion for bass fishing. From the first cast, you could tell they were here to have fun and soak it all in. It was honestly uplifting to share the boat with them.
Tom spent the whole day mastering a baitcaster and ended up catching fish all day long—huge progress and a blast to watch. Dante already had the casting down and backed it up with solid hooksets. Together they put up the highest numbers of the week—easily 50+ bass between them. No true giants, but a ton of quality fish in the 3 to 5-pound range. It was one of those days you don’t forget.
And then there was the sandwich. Dante brought one fresh from his family’s business—Auddino’s Italian Bakery in Columbus. I’m a big Italian sandwich guy, and I can honestly say this one was the best I’ve ever had. The bread, the meats, the peppers, onions—everything was on point. If you’re ever in the Columbus area, do yourself a favor and stop by:

Even better than the sandwich was hearing how well Tom and Dante fished after our day together. They had three more days on Guntersville without me and kept sending photos of the fish they were catching on their own—putting the techniques we covered into action. That’s the kind of stuff that makes this job feel special.
Coming from Ohio, where bass fishing can be hit or miss depending on the lake and the season, they were blown away by the consistency and quality here. And I could feel it—that excitement they had. The kind that keeps you up at night replaying hooksets in your sleep. I’ve been there. And now it’s official: Tom and Dante say this is going to be a yearly tradition. Can’t wait to have them back.
Best Baits This Week? Not Telling (But Kind Of)
Our best baits this week were a little different—something compact, some weight behind it, and let’s just say… it resembles a crawdad. That’s all I’m saying. We keep our bait specifics exclusive to our clients because that’s part of what makes a guided trip with us worth it. Some things you just have to be on the boat to learn—but it’s always worth the ride.
Advanced Sonar Classes – 4 in 1 Week
We hosted four Advanced Sonar Classes this past week and each one was an absolute blast. There’s nothing better than helping people gain confidence in what they’re seeing and turning that knowledge into catches. Seeing those light bulb moments never gets old, and we’re already looking forward to the classes we’ve got lined up next week.
Easter weekend delivered some great catches and good weather — a solid reminder of just how special springtime fishing can be on Lake Guntersville.
Big News Coming Soon
We’ve got some exciting news behind the scenes… A new addition is coming to our guide team! We’re not dropping names just yet, but let’s just say this is someone who’s going to make an impact. Once everything is finalized — including booking availability — we’ll be making the full announcement. Stay tuned!
Crappie Report – Captain Phillip Delivers Again

Captain Phillip put on another crappie clinic this week. If you’re looking to fill your freezer, now’s the time. We’re seeing high catch rates and even hitting limits on multiple trips. The bite is hot, and it’s only getting better. Don’t sleep on it—book a trip now and take full advantage while the window’s wide open.
What’s Ahead – Bream, Points & Possibilities
Looking ahead, the forecast shows a few thunderstorms, but nothing that looks like a long-term weather event. If we do see rain, it’ll likely be short-lived. Honestly, I don’t think it’s going to affect the fishing much unless we need to dodge lightning.
I do feel like a shift is coming. Maybe not this week, but likely the following week. We’re getting close to seeing fish move to secondary points, flats, and grass beds. The early-spawned fish might start showing up around bream beds as we move toward the next full moon.
I haven’t seen or smelled the full-on bream bed activity just yet, but people are catching them on crickets and corks. That tells me we’re close. Once they lock in, I expect a crankbait bite to follow on those shallow secondary points. Could be some very exciting fishing coming our way in the next two weeks.
