Guntersville delivered again this week.
The heat was brutal, but the bass didn’t seem to mind. We bounced between old favorites and fresh waypoints, and the action was there—short, intense bite windows that kept us moving like clockwork.
Personal Best Moment
One highlight of the week came from a young angler chasing his first big bass. When the rod loaded up, you could tell it was special—the fish bulldogged, ripped drag, and refused to quit. The grin on his face when it finally slid into the net said it all. That fish was a personal best, and we’re letting our Facebook followers guess the weight for a giveaway. Head to our Facebook page, find the post with the smiling young man holding his fish, and drop your guess.

24 Anglers, One Mission
Saturday gave us one for the memory books: a group trip with 24 anglers from around the world, all visiting Alabama through a church retreat. Coordinating boats, tackle, and timing for that many people isn’t simple—but watching everyone laughing, catching fish, and trading stories made it worth every ounce of effort. Big groups like that remind us how fishing can bring people together, no matter where they’re from.
The Bite
This is a pattern-driven bite right now—no single lure dominates every condition. Wind, sun, and time of day are making a big difference, but we’ve got bite windows dialed within about 10 minutes either side. When that window opens, it’s fast and furious.
Our most consistent producer? Texas-rigged worms. They’ve been catching fish early, midday, and even when the bite slows down. Adjusting color and size has been key, and we’re mixing in other techniques as needed depending on conditions.
The Dream Team on the Water
This week wasn’t just about fish—it was about the people who make these trips unforgettable. I’m beyond fortunate to have a crew like Captains Myles, Scott, Phillip, and Derek on the team. These guys are top-tier at what they do—from putting clients on fish to delivering an exceptional, professional experience every single time. They don’t just guide; they create memories, and having a group this good is something I don’t take for granted. Honestly, it feels like I hit the jackpot when I found these guys—it’s a blessing to have a team like this out on the water representing Guntersville Bass Guides.

Fishing Forecast
August is here, and with it comes heat that can feel downright miserable when the wind dies—but one good bass bite can change everything fast.
We’re watching for a possible pattern shift soon. Fish may bury deeper into the thick grass mats as they often do this time of year, and offshore fish could move overnight. We’re ready when it happens.
For now, we’re focusing on shorter 4-hour trips to beat the heat. Looking ahead, September is shaping up to be prime topwater season—recent years have delivered some insane blowups. If topwater action is your thing, now’s the time to book your September dates before they fill up.
Tip: Stay cool, stay hydrated, and keep a worm tied on—you’ll need it.
