Fall Fishing Is Starting to Come Together on Lake Guntersville
Fall has arrived on Lake Guntersville with some cold wind, but the bass fishing has shown some great improvement over the last five days. The numbers are going down while the quality is going up, and the fun has just begun.
Wilson and Leary Win the Jakked Baits Tournament
Eric Wilson and I won the Jakked Baits Tournament on Saturday with 18.36 pounds and a 6.12 pound big bass.
The weather wasn’t the best. The first nasty cold front rolled through with high winds and a strong cold north wind that made the fish sluggish when you would normally expect them to strap the feed bags on and start chewing.
It wasn’t easy. We had to fight floating grass, grass that was still growing, and the wind. When one of us called for the net, we almost had to scream because we both had beanies and hoodies pulled over our heads and couldn’t hear much.
The wind finally laid down around 1 o’clock, and that is when we were able to make a couple of important culls that helped secure the win.
The new C Map helped us find another small hidden spot by allowing us to select the depth and color the map so the area really stood out. Lowrance StructureScan then helped confirm that the fish were there and ready to eat.
Back to Back Wins
Back to back wins in this tournament made this one especially memorable. The unique trophies made it even better.
This tournament has continued to grow because of all the work Tom and his crew put into it, and it was great to be part of another strong event on Lake Guntersville.
Water temperature has dropped below 60 degrees. Some areas of the lake are clear while others remain dingy.
We are also catching some crappie while bass fishing, and that can only lead to more and bigger bass showing up in the weeks ahead.
Winter Fishing Is Around the Corner
With winter around the corner and some of the best smallmouth fishing still to come, we were also booking smallmouth trips during this period.
It has been a fun week. Come fishing and have a chance at some big ones.

We went back out Sunday for a few hours and caught all the ones that wanted to bite. Good time with a good buddy.
