Mother Nature threw everything she had at us this past week.
Between dodging thunderstorms and rescheduling trips around the lightning, it definitely kept things interesting. But even with the wild weather, we still made it happen — including putting a few new personal bests in the boat!
The bass fishing has started to shift gears.
We’re moving with the fish a little differently than weeks past. It’s a little like doing the Hokey Pokey — you put one leg in, you take one leg out — except it’s the bass.
One “leg” of the spawn is moving out, and another is still moving in.
It’s a funky, in-between phase, but if you stay flexible and adjust each day, you’ll stay on them.
We’ve leaned into some new bait choices this week too — starting to favor post-spawn tactics — but we’ll save the real details for the boat.
Let’s just say, if you like explosive strikes, you’re going to love what’s coming.
Crappie Fishing Report

Meanwhile, the crappie bite has been flat-out insane.
Captain Phillip and Captain Scott have been on absolute fire — putting clients on crappie day after day, even with the weather challenges.
With the right coaching and adjustments on the water, their clients have been able to dial in and catch some great limits. It’s not necessarily “easy,” but with the guidance we provide, it all comes together.
The guys also handled the annual trip for a group that stops to fish with us before heading to Talladega each year — and as always, they didn’t disappoint.
We’re proud to have Captains Phillip and Scott leading the charge on the crappie front.
If you’re thinking about a crappie trip, this is the time.
They’ve been focusing strictly on artificial baits, and there’s a magic depth that’s been key — but just like with the bass baits, that’s a secret reserved for our in-boat guests!
Fishing Forecast
Looking ahead, we expect things to keep improving as the weather stabilizes.
The fish that hit the beds over the past week will start slipping into their post-spawn patterns early this week.
At the same time, some fish that have already been off the bed for a little while are starting to show up in early summer-type spots — but they’re not fully committed yet.
We just need a little heat — if Mother Nature turns up the oven, things are going to break wide open.
Expect the bite to get better and better, especially by the end of the week.
Not saying the fishing’s bad now — far from it — but it’s about to go from good to great.
The next few weeks are going to be all about post-spawn adjustments and feeding windows.
