Lake Guntersville Fishing Report – Frog Bite Update
Lake Guntersville bass fishing report with SPRO Frog Tournament recap, early fall patterns, and what’s working now (plus crappie trips start Oct 15).
Fall is finally settling in on Lake Guntersville and the frog bite is heating up. Bites are coming in short windows tied to current, shade, and wind — be ready when those line up. We’re seeing quality fish when the window opens and it’s pointing straight at a classic October surge.
SPRO Frog Tournament Recap
The SPRO Frog Tournament drew a strong turnout this weekend with reports of about 21 lbs taking the win. Solid effort — and a reminder that the true frog bite belongs to October. For newer readers: this event was founded by Capt. Jim Leary in 2012. We’ve watched it grow, and we know exactly when Guntersville flips that topwater switch.
Patterns & Timing
Morning favors reaction and covering water; mid-day slows down around key grass lines and isolated targets. Afternoons can pop when wind/current stand mats up or push bait. Surface temps are in the low 80s and easing down — all signs point to that famous October run.
Crappie Season Starts Oct 15
Crappie bookings have been open and our first trips kick off October 15. If you want in on the early slab bite, lock your date now: Lake Guntersville Crappie Guides.
Looking Ahead
Cooler nights and stable conditions are lining up. Expect more consistent mats and a louder topwater bite as we slide into October. We’ll keep working the short windows and stay ready when it blows open.
