Lake Guntersville Fishing Update – November 16, 2025
Post-front, scattered bass and unstable weather patterns are keeping anglers on the move across Lake Guntersville.
Post-Cold Front: Scattered Bass & No Real Pattern
This week on Lake Guntersville has been a strange one. After that major cold front rolled through, the bass scattered hard. They’ll still bite, but they’re not grouping up at all. You can get bit in 2 feet of water and then get another one in 20 feet. There’s no real pattern locking in, and the lake feels behind for this time of year.
We still have a lot of leaves on the trees, water temps are bouncing around, and every time we get a day where things look right, the next three or four days go completely the opposite direction. It’s one of those stretches where you’ll get a little spurt of hope with a good day, then things go back to being all over the map.
The key right now is covering water. If you’re stubborn and try to force one stretch, you’ll struggle. Keep moving, check a mix of shallow grass, shell beds, and anything with clean current. Eventually you’ll run into a small window where they’re active — but those windows have been short.
If you’re planning to fish soon, keep an eye on the latest conditions and temperatures on our updated Lake Guntersville water temp page .
Trips, Gift Certificates & Crappie Options
With the bite moving around daily, this is the time of year when having a full-time guide really helps. You can check availability and even book with Pay-in-4 through our Fish Now, Pay Later page — reserve your date now and split the cost into four payments.
If you’re looking for an easy Christmas or birthday option, our Gift Certificates are a simple way to lock in a trip without picking dates yet. They’re a great option for family, friends, or coworkers who love to fish.
If crappie is on your mind going into winter and early spring, we’ve got a dedicated page for that too. You can learn more about our crappie trips and get on the books here: Lake Guntersville crappie fishing guides .
Coming to Town? Lodging & Local Supporters
If you’re traveling in for a trip, our lodging partners make the planning easy. You can see some of the best places to stay around the lake on our Lodging on Lake Guntersville page — perfect for weekend getaways, family trips, or corporate groups.
We also want to give a shout-out to our friends at Alabama Preferred Heating & Cooling . They support local bass fishermen and the Guntersville fishing community, and we appreciate the way they back the anglers and events around the lake.
Final Thoughts
Guntersville is in a weird transition phase right now, but that won’t last long. Once these temps stabilize and the weather pattern stops jumping around, the lake will finally settle in. When that happens, we’ll see the fishing shape up fast — and those bigger groups of fish won’t be far behind.
If you need help dialing it in during this stretch, or want to plan a trip around the next big window, we’re on the water every week. See you out there.
