Guntersville Summer Bite Is Heating Up
Lake Guntersville is starting to show out. The heat is here, the current is starting to matter more, and the big bass are showing up better across the lake.
This week was not about giving away every little thing we are doing. This week was about letting the pictures speak. Our guide team had a strong week, the clients caught them, and Guntersville gave us the kind of fish that keep people coming back.
We are still mixing it up. One day the better deal may be in the grass. The next day it may be out on ledges. Some days we are doing both in the same trip. You have to keep an open mind, keep fishing, and be willing to adjust with what the lake gives you.
The Summer Bite Is Building
Guntersville is not fully settled into one clean pattern yet, and that is actually what makes this time of year interesting. The bass are moving, grouping, feeding in windows, and showing up in places that are starting to feel more like summer.
We are seeing fish in the grass. We are seeing fish out deeper. We are seeing days where the best plan is to fish both and let the lake tell you where to spend your time.
The biggest thing is the quality. We have been waiting on this better size to show up more consistently, and this week it did. There were good ones across multiple boats, multiple trips, and multiple sections of the lake.
“Guntersville is starting to act like Guntersville again. The heat, the current, and the way these fish are setting up has us excited about where this summer bite is headed.”
Tyler And Jack Made The Trip From Arizona
One of the coolest stories from the week was having Tyler and Jack come from Arizona to fish Lake Guntersville. Tyler pulled his own boat all the way to Guntersville, Alabama, and Jack joined him for the trip.
That kind of commitment means a lot to us. When somebody drags a boat across the country to fish this lake and chooses to spend time with Guntersville Bass Guides, we take that seriously.
Jack made the trip one they will not forget. He caught an absolute giant largemouth, and it was one of those fish that deserves its own place in the report.
Tyler had a good one too. These guys came a long way, fished hard, and got to see what Lake Guntersville can do when the better fish start showing up.
When anglers pull their own boat from Arizona to Lake Guntersville, that is an honor. When they catch fish like this, it makes the whole story even better.
Hunter Skinner In The Boat With Capt. Jim
Capt. Jim also had the chance to fish with professional hockey player Hunter Skinner. The best part is, if you did not already know Hunter plays professional hockey, you would never guess it.
He was humble, easy to be around, straight up professional, and just a good dude. He came to fish, listened, worked, and caught them.
Hunter and his brother Dyllan were both a lot of fun to have in the boat, and they put together the kind of trip that makes guiding special.
Dyllan caught fish too, and this trip was one of those days where the people in the boat were just as good as the fishing.
Robert And Hudson Made A Memory
Robert and his son Hudson had one of those trips that sticks with you. Hudson caught his first largemouth bass ever, and it was not just a little first fish.
His first largemouth was 5 pounds 5 ounces. That is a serious first bass, and it made the whole day special. Those are the moments that make father and son fishing trips mean something.
Hudson did not stop there. He caught big ones, solid ones, and even got to see the difference between largemouth and spotted bass on Lake Guntersville.
A first largemouth bass is always special. A first largemouth that weighs 5 pounds 5 ounces is something a young angler will never forget.
Zach And Nina Caught Them Again
Zach and Nina were back, and as always, they caught them. Some people just have a way of showing up, fishing hard, and making the day better.
They had big ones, better than average ones, and a few of those fat Guntersville bass that show the lake is starting to put the right kind of fish in the right places.
Todd Was Back With Capt. Scott
Todd is a returning client, and this week he was back in the boat with Capt. Scott. Returning clients mean a lot to a guide service because they already know what to expect, and they still choose to come back.
Capt. Scott keeps producing. He stays steady, keeps his clients around fish, and continues to be a big part of what makes Guntersville Bass Guides work as a team.
“The lake is giving us more ways to catch them now. Some fish are in the grass, some are deeper, and you have to stay open minded every day.”
Good People Make Good Trips Better
Not every bass has to be a giant to make a trip matter. Some of the best days are built around the people in the boat, the conversations, the laughs, and the memories made between bites.
These next fish were more average bass, but the people holding them were anything but average. This was one of those trips where we really enjoyed the anglers and the biggest fan in the boat.
Grandmother And Grandson With Capt. Phillip
Capt. Phillip had a grandmother and grandson trip this week, and they caught some nice above average bass.
Those family trips are a big part of what we do. Whether it is a father and son, grandmother and grandson, or a group that just wants to spend time together on the water, Lake Guntersville has a way of turning a normal day into something people remember.
“The fish are there, but you still have to work through the day. When the better ones show up, it makes the whole trip worth it.”
Capt. Scott’s Trips Kept Producing
Capt. Scott had another good stretch of trips this week. That is one of the advantages of having a full guide team on Lake Guntersville.
Different captains are seeing different parts of the lake, comparing notes, and helping keep clients around fish while the summer pattern continues to develop.
Helping Out Tim Chandler’s Group
We also want to thank Tim Chandler for reaching out this week when he needed some extra boats for a group trip. We were glad our team could help.
That is good for the anglers, good for Lake Guntersville, and good for the fishing community. Guide services working together the right way helps everybody.
Capt. Jim’s boat had the big fish for that day, a 6 pound 1 ounce largemouth bass.
Lake Guntersville largemouth caught from Capt. Jim’s boat while helping with Tim Chandler’s group.
When another guide service trusts your team enough to call for help, that says something. We appreciate Tim thinking of us.
What This Week Tells Us
This was one of the stronger weeks we have had as the lake moves deeper into summer. The bass are not doing one single thing everywhere, but they are starting to act better.
The heat matters. The current matters. The fast changing water temperature matters. The biggest thing is staying flexible and not getting lazy with one pattern.
Some fish are in the grass. Some fish are out deeper. Some days you have to go back and forth until you find the right group at the right time. That is Lake Guntersville summer fishing.
Why Fishing With A Guide Team Matters
This week showed again why booking with an actual guide team matters. Guntersville Bass Guides is not one boat trying to cover everything alone.
Capt. Jim, Capt. Scott, Capt. Phillip, Capt. Myles, and Capt. Derek all bring different strengths to the table. That gives clients more coverage, more flexibility, and more information as Lake Guntersville changes.
When the lake is moving from grass to ledges, from shallow to deep, and from one bite window to another, having multiple captains comparing notes can make a difference.
Book Your Lake Guntersville Trip
If you have been waiting on the summer bite to start showing better signs, this is the kind of week you want to see. The better fish are showing up, the lake is giving us multiple ways to catch them, and the guide team is staying on top of the changes.
Guntersville Bass Guides offers 4 hour, 6 hour, and 8 hour bass fishing trips, family trips, corporate trips, electronics training, tournament prep, and multi day fishing options on Lake Guntersville.
Fish Now, Pay Later
If you are wanting to get on the calendar but want to split up the cost, our Fish Now, Pay Later option is still available.
This can help anglers lock in a Lake Guntersville fishing trip while the summer bite continues to heat up.
Final Thoughts Going Into The Week
This June 28 fishing report is a good one. Guntersville is heating up, the bass are showing better size, and our guide team had the kind of week that reminds us why this lake is special.
We had anglers from Arizona, a professional hockey player in the boat, returning clients, family memories, a young angler catching his first largemouth, and multiple captains producing across the team.
The fishing is not automatic. You still have to work. You still have to adjust. You still have to keep an open mind. But when Lake Guntersville gives you a week like this, you enjoy it.
