How about the weather we have been getting here in North Alabama!!!! It just goes with the year, 2015 was by far a year that was very challenging to stay on the bass every day, I just could not go and do the same thing more then 2 or 3 days in a row and everything seemed to be behind some times it seemed it was a month or two behind then out of no where it acted like a month ahead.
With all that being said we had on heck of a year for records here at Guntersville Bass Guides, 3 Large Mouth Bass over 9 pounds in one trip, 6 over 7 pounds in a trip, and a 10 pound bass. Thats just some of the highlights what you dont see or hear about are the days we are out on the lake hunting new areas and coming up with one or two bites, it could be 25 degrees out or 100 degrees and we still back down the ramp and launch the boat and put in the time to put our clients on bass of a lifetime. Thank you all for making 2015 a year that will never be forgotten.
Around Christmas I went small mouth fishing with Steve in Ohio. I think we caught 27 of them and that was just in the morning.
Started the year off with a 4th place finish in a little tournament out of Browns creek on New Years Day, Did not have a monster sack but 17 pounds of bass help keep me warm on the chilly day, with a 6.20 Large Mouth, 3rd and 2nd also had 17 it was ounces between us and 1st had little over 22. It was a grind for me the water had cleared some but not to what I like but it is fishing I went out and pre-fished a couple days and could not get a bite or less I was around some rocks. The Lake was trashed, channel markers were in the middle of the river along with trees some had massive amounts of grass covering them up. I took a trip on New Years Eve and it lasted 3 hours and everyone was cold the weather man told a fib on how warm it was to be and no one dressed for how cold it really was , we did manage one small bass.
Tournament day went like this 5 bites, 5 different spots, 4 different lures. 3 off rocks 2 out of the grass. And since Friday the lake has cleared up even more and the bass have started to feed now that they can see a little better.
3/8oz spinner bait
Lipless Crank Bait
DT 10 Crank Bait
those are the baits that worked for me.
Water temp 56-59
Here are some pics to give you an idea how the lake looked 5 days after the rain.
